This is something I struggled with a lot early on, but in the end I came up with the conclusion that TFSF is a monarchy, and I am the king. There are no published rules. I don’t want NSFW on the Main Forum, but I don’t have an official rule. If someone new comes in and posts it, I just let them know to move it the NSFW board
The only rule I have for myself is that I will not delete any post, unless it is obviously, or I become aware, that it is illegal. Haven’t come across that yet.
One issue it does create is the environment for trolls to take advantage of, because if you moderate content from a troll, the whole principle of the site unravels. That’s been tricky, but I’ve come up with a method

Since this is the Gov’t thread, the way I see (currently) why the Allegiance of Free Speech Forums operates, is like we are Greek city-states. We have each other’s backs, but operate as independent entities. The unique forums provide more comfortable conversation on local and topical discussion because the target audiences are geographically close, and also provide more for the users to connect on because of shared local customs
Separate thought: what if Emma created an African Free Speech Forum? Three digital City-States

I'd be interested in how you manage trolls? For those of us who can spot them it's obviously not really an issue and I personally think you can have fun with trolls in some situations, they also give you a chance to develop your argument against a hostile opponent, something that comes in handy if you don't let the troll get to you.

Sometimes trolling is fine and amusing. There are actually good trolls, but some people can be flat out over the top obnoxiois
One way that general trolls are handled on our site is that most all of the community has been hardened from years of shit talking and have very thick skin. I’ve had several come to the forum and try to troll and they themselves get trolled right off the site
You can try to reason with them through DMs, and that has worked before for me
But if none of these things work, There are things you can do on the administrative side of the forum that makes the experience for a troll on your site very unpleasant. I can show @Administrator how to do it

So apparently a 'forum' is a Roman variant of the ancient Greek 'άγορά' (*"gathering place", or "assembly").

Been contemplating this subject(*although i'm admittedly dividing focus on an array of things currently),... maybe a fundamental-and publicly stated "rule", "law", "principle", or whatever the appropriate term, for participating within NZFSF, could be something like; "reciprocation unto each participant equates with that which each participant expresses"(¿?)
(*ie: treat others with the same respect one wishes to be treated, so for example; if being reasonable towards others, one shall justifiably expect reasonability by others in return—alternatively; if being a cunt towards others, therefore 😏fuckin oath, one shall justifiably expect cuntiness of equal measure by others in return.)
*Note: i have a clear conception of this sorta thing in my mind however something that's become apparent to me is that it's extremely challenging to effectively articulate my subjective concepts and my intended meaning in a manner using base words which can be accurately interpreted by others. So essentially the words i'm using are actually substitutions adapted in an attempt to resolve what imo is a variable comms gap.
(*Bare in mind that i'm aware some individuals have developed capacities for accurately discerning, perceiving, interpreting and comprehending intended expressed meanings regardless of the manner and efficacy thereof.)
[the "intellectual" requires punctuation to ascertain meaning correctly, while the "master" requires no punctuation at all]
What i'm sorta getting at is that if/when any issues arise between any participants,...i am duty bound to immediately engage as an objective-impartial mediator. In such a scenario i intend to utilize fundamental logical, moral & ethical principles to seek resolution regardless of the who, what, why, when, where or how—even if i find that i am at fault—i intend to demonstrate absolute accountability for that which i am responsible, in practice, and by doing so shall thereby exemplify what NZFSF is predicated upon.

Maybe we could come up with a system based upon the Víkingr honour system.
